Basics
The Wild are a NHL team based in St. Paul, Minnesota and play in the Central Divsion of the Western Conference. Their first season was the 2000-2001 season which returned professional hockey to Minnesota after the Minnesota North Stars moved to Dallas, Texas and became the Dallas Stars in 1993.
The Logo and Mascot
The Wild logo is that of...not really a bear but kind of a bear? No one really knows what animal it or Nordy (the mascot) really are besides "wild animals from the north" . The eye or star in the logo represents the North Star and the states motto L'Étoile du Nord or Tthe Star of the North" while the river and trees represent the wilderness of the state.

Why
It's probably weird to see someone from the PNW to be a fan of an out of state team, especially one that struggles to have a winning season at times and hasn't made it to the finals since 2003. But then again, teams not passed down from previous generations or chosen by geographic location are all about whether you like the team/players on it.
I started watching the Wild after Marc-André Fleury was traded to the team in 2022, a player I had been watching videos of before I had started actually watching live games. While Fleury was the main draw, I quickly fell in love with the rest of the team and they eventually became my main team that I follow.
